Katie Holmes is among the former castmates mourning actor James Van Der Beek following his death at age 48, sharing a heartfelt tribute as colleagues from Dawson's Creek reflected on his legacy and career.

Van Der Beek's family confirmed he died on February 11 after a battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer. In a statement posted on his social media account, they wrote, "Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning," adding that he faced his final days "with courage, faith, and grace." The message also requested privacy as loved ones grieve the loss of a husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Holmes, who starred alongside him on the teen drama from 1998 to 2003, shared a handwritten message online describing the loss as difficult to process. She wrote, "James, thank you. To share a space with your imagination is sacred, breathing the same air in the land of make believe and trusting that each other's hearts are safe in their expression."

Days before the Australian snowboarder was set to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics, he was forced to withdraw from the men’s snowboard cross race on Feb. 12 after suffering an injury, the Australian Olympic Team confirmed on social media.

Bolton fell during a snowboarding training session in Milan on February 9, according to multiple outlets. Although the 35-year-old, who last competed in the Beijing Winter Games in 2022, appeared to be fine after practice, he awoke the next day with severe neck pain and sought medical attention.

According to the outlets, Bolton's scans revealed he had two fractures, so he was airlifted from the mountain to another facility in Milan for further treatment. As of now, Australia's Chef de Mission Alisa Camplin-Warner has assured him that he is "doing well" during his recovery.

"Cam wanted to make [sure] his teammates understood what was happening and that he was fine and doing well and being looked after well," Camplin-Warner told reporters at the time. "He understands how serious we are about the process of supporting him, and the communication has been excellent. I am proud of the level of care."

Actor Jena Malone has confirmed she is engaged to fellow performer Jack Buckley, sharing the news publicly in February and offering a personal reflection on their relationship alongside images from the proposal.

The Hunger Games alum revealed the engagement on February 11 through a joint social media post, where she described the significance of the moment and Buckley's effort to involve those closest to her before proposing. "My soulmate asked me to marry him. First, he asked those who have protected and cared for my heart for so long. The Baby Driver star confirmed that he and his partner had welcomed their first child, and he officially introduced his son to the world.
