North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov have inaugurated a memorial and museum in Pyongyang dedicated to North Korean soldiers killed in the Ukraine conflict. The ceremony featured a statue unveiling, military jet flyovers, and the release of white balloons. While official casualty numbers are not public, South Korean intelligence estimates that at least 15,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to assist Russia, particularly in the Kursk region.

Seoul also estimates that about 2,000 North Koreans have died in the conflict - neither Pyongyang nor Russia have provided any official numbers.

Air China resumed direct flights between Beijing and Pyongyang on Monday, further restoring travel links between the two capitals. The flight was welcomed by Chinese Ambassador Wang Yajun and other diplomats, according to state media. This development follows the March 12 resumption of passenger train services between China and North Korea.

Flights and passenger trains to North Korea had been suspended since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

North Korean carrier Air Koryo resumed flights between the capitals in 2023.

Japan has announced a $10bn support package aimed at helping Asian economies secure vital energy supplies, as disruption linked to the Iran war continues to rattle global oil markets.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi revealed the initiative following a virtual summit with regional leaders, outlining a coordinated effort to stabilise fuel access and reinforce fragile supply chains across Southeast Asia.

Speaking after the meeting, Takaichi stressed that Japan's economic stability is closely tied to that of its neighbours. She noted that supply networks across Asia are deeply interconnected, particularly in sectors reliant on petroleum-based products such as medical manufacturing.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a friendship treaty in Pyongyang, pledging closer cooperation and resistance to Western pressure. Both leaders, who are prominent supporters of Russia's war in Ukraine, exchanged symbolic gifts during the visit. Lukashenko presented Kim with an automatic rifle, jokingly suggesting its use "just in case the enemies appear," while Kim gave the Belarusian leader a sword and a vase with a portrait of the Belarusian president.

Speaking during a televised interview, Trump said the United States would impose tariffs of up to 50% on Chinese goods if evidence emerges that China is supplying weapons to Iran.

The remarks followed intelligence reports suggesting China could be preparing shipments of man-portable air-defense systems capable of targeting low-flying aircraft.

Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Cheng Li-wun, the leader of Taiwan’s main opposition party, the Kuomintang (KMT), in China on Friday. India’s Supreme Court has rejected a petition to mandate menstrual leave for students and working women. A two-judge bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, argued that such a law would discourage employers from hiring women and hinder their professional growth. The court stated that mandatory leave could lead to the perception that women are "not at par" with their male colleagues.
