Jamie Vardy, Leicester City's captain and long-serving striker, will leave the club at the end of the season, though he intends to continue his playing career. Kylian Mbappe received the first red card of his Real Madrid career, but his teammates managed to hold off a determined Alaves side to secure a narrow 1-0 victory and stay within four points of La Liga leaders Barcelona. The French forward was initially booked for a late challenge on Antonio Blanco, but following a VAR review, the yellow was upgraded to a red as replays showed Mbappe catching Blanco high on the shin, prompting referee Cesar Soto Grado to change his decision after consulting the pitchside monitor.
