Lucas Vazquez bagged the fastest La Liga goal of the season as Real Madrid staved off a late comeback to beat Deportivo Alaves 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu in Carlo Ancelotti’s 300th match in charge. It was surprisingly a full-strength Los Blancos lineup despite Sunday’s Madrid derby looming large, and it took less than a minute for the 36-time champions to grab control of the game.

Real Betis missed out on the chance to record three successive victories at home for the first time in almost a year after Dani Rodriguez and Valery gave RCD Mallorca a 2-1 comeback victory after Giovani Lo Celso’s thunderous opener. Betis celebrated the life of club member number one Juan Antonio Campos Camacho prior to the game, after he passed away aged 88 on Thursday.

Stuttgart won a fourth consecutive clash against Borussia Dortmund, beating their opponents 5-1 to extend their unbeaten home run to 14 Bundesliga matches. Having faced one of last season’s Champions League finalists in midweek, Stuttgart faced the other here as they looked to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid. It took Sebastian Hoeness' men less than four minutes to shake off any thought of a European hangover, as Deniz Undav capitalized on Niklas Sule’s slip to race in behind and beat Gregor Kobel with a bobbled finish that went in off the post.

Barcelona were clinical on their way to a 5-1 win over Villarreal as the Blaugrana maintained their perfect start to their league campaign. The two teams showed plenty of early intent and Yeremy Pino offered a warning of his side’s quality with three wonderful touches before cushioning the ball over Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, although that was inconsequential due to the offside flag.
